Really sorry, only 3* due to disappointing meal 6pm Sunday 19 November 2023

19 November, 2023 Table for 2, @ 6pm at The Swan, lovely old pub, formerly a Coaching Inn prior going to the Electric Picture House 7.30pm..When booking the table, I asked what time the kitchens closed (after all, if providing Sunday lunches, kitchens often close 2.30’ish) & was advised meals, including roast options were available until 8.30pm: as we’re both pensioners living alone & we cook roast dinners. The staff were lovely, very welcoming, sadly the meal was poor. We chose lamb which was plentiful & delicious; cauliflower cheese had completely dried out, crumbly bits cheese sauce; green veg far too crunchy;lovely parsnips; reheated roast potatoes, weren’t grt: Yorkshire pudd was ok & the gravy excellent. We didn’t complain, as grateful to have a meal cooked on a Sunday pm. My point here: it would have been better to have told us,sorry, no roast, there’s a choice of freshly cooked dishes from our menu - with benefit of hindsight, we should have done that.
